Strava, a website and app, has brilliantly tapped the power of GPS and egos of cyclists to turn our beautiful sport into a computer game. And we love it.

So I thought I would do a quick review on the top cyclists on the network so you can get fired up for the weekend rides – it was also very much inspired by Niki Terpstra’s Paris-Roubaix Strava entry! – and if you don’t manage to beat it within the rules, well you can always look at the site Digital EPO – cheaters!

Your better off doing it old school, so grit your teeth, unleashing the frustration of a week at the office desk and put those legs through pain. Comment below on how you get on against these riders (and other pros) numbers!

1. Niki Terpstra ( Omega Pharma-Quick Step) Notable wins/results – silver medal winner of the team pursuit in the 2005 UCI Track Cycling World Championships & 2014 winner of Paris–Roubaix race.

2. Luke Rowe (Team Sky); took his first professional victory in September 2012 by winning the opening stage of the Tour of Britain.

6. Lance Armstrong (retired/banned) Nothing now, before the drug scandal 7 time winner of Tour de France – I know your interested so I am going to put him in…….I probably shouldn’t………

7. Jasper Stuyven (Trek Factory Racing);as neo-pro, as started his first session as support for Cancellara in the Tour of Flanders & Paris Roubaix

8. Ellen Van Dijk (Boels Dolmans Cycling Team) ; competed in three disciplines at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where she helped Marianne Vos win the gold medal in the road race, finished eighth in the time trial and sixth in the team pursuit. Won 2014 Tour of Flanders after a solo of 25 kilometres and took the time trial victory in the World Championships in 2013.
